FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Upgrade Allows Hospitals to Leverage Existing Wireless Networks for Automated Wireless Temperature Monitoring System
San Francisco, CA (August 12, 2009) - Tempsys, Inc. announced that its computerized Checkpoint Wireless Temperature Monitoring System for hospitals can now take advantage of hospitals' existing WiFi wireless networks. Hospitals will be able to use either their wireless WiFi, a separate wireless repeater/Etherbase network to connect through the hospital hard-wired LAN, or a hybrid system utilizing both the wireless WiFi and hard-wired LAN to conveniently install the wireless temperature monitoring system.
Wireless temperature monitoring systems have been gaining acceptance at hospitals, blood banks and laboratories around the world. Such systems have helped protect millions of dollars' worth of drugs and specimens, ensure patient safety, and make sure hospitals are always ready for audits and inspections from standards and regulatory agencies. The Checkpoint Wireless Temperature Monitoring System continuously monitors temperature-sensitive equipment throughout the hospital, from the pharmacy to the blood bank, nurses' stations to research laboratories.
"With this upgrade, we are able to lower the cost and simplify the installation of a wireless temperature monitoring system," said Bob Yuan, president of Tempsys, Inc. "Today, the system is cost-effective, and its purchase can be readily justified by its return on the investment through loss prevention, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and labor savings."
The Checkpoint Wireless Temperature Monitoring System monitors the temperature of refrigerators and freezers for the blood bank, laboratory, pharmacy, dietary and all other departments as a hospital-wide solution. Checkpoint provides 24/7 monitoring, automatically emails alert notifications and provides full documentation of all corrective action for automated regulatory compliance.
Its latest, G3 version, offers the following features:
- two way-communication and onboard memory at each sensor so that data is never lost even during a server or network failure.
- comprehensive reporting capabilities to meet the variety of requirements of the Joint Commission, Department of Health, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and College of American Pathologists (CAP).
- shock- and water-resistant sensors that can monitor temperatures down to -200 degrees Celsius, as well as other measurement values such as humidity, differential air pressure, carbon dioxide, door status, movement, voltage, power outage and other parameters.
- immediate email and text message alerts that can be sent to any number of personnel to protect against a refrigerator or other equipment failure.
